I hadn’t posted in the last two weeks, mostly because I was so focused on Max’s health and the health of our other kitties. Now I’m finally at a place where I feel I can give an update.
If you read my previous post about Max, you’ll know that we were waiting to hear if Max has cancer. The great AMAZING news is that he has no cancer! The vet got back to us and let us know that the biopsy showed no signs of cancer. There also was no signs of IBD. I’m so grateful we didn’t decide to euthanize him a few weeks ago. I am SO glad Zach and I pushed for a biopsy. I really felt like God was speaking to me and I was right. He was!
After getting the non-cancer diagnosis, our vet suggested we do something called a diarrhea panel, which basically tests their stool for indicators of what’s going on with him. That came up negative. The next step was to test him for histoplasmosis – this also came up negative.
The other bit of great news is he seems to be responding well to the antibiotics and he’s acting like our Max again. Being playful, running away from us when we try to pick him up, jumping up on the bed, and pawing at our door in the morning. He still has the feeding tube, but he’s also starting to eat on his own more and hopefully the tube can come out soon. He’s doing well!
After thinking we were going to lose him, multiple tests, and thousands of dollars, we still don’t know what caused this. This is the downside as I don’t know what we can do to prevent this from happening again, but I am simply praying it doesn’t. We continue to take good care of all our babies – including Gabby, Biscuit, and Tot having their annual exam this week – and will provide them the healthiest and happiest environment we can.
But I am relieved and so thankful! And now, here are some recent photos of our boi!
