On Save the Kitties

Exactly three years, I found the rescue that would change my life.

On July 24, 2021, I saw a local rescue that I hadn’t heard of was having a grand opening party and Zach and I decided to go on a Saturday. It was small shelter and a few ladies were there during the opening. I saw some sweet kitties, donated a few dollars, and followed their page on Facebook.

This was just the beginning though.

Over the course of the next several months, I got a new job, moved to a bigger house, and then reached out to them about fostering. I first started fostering Tot (formerly Callie) and then quickly picked up another foster named Gabby. And then I started fostering Thackery Binx (who soon found his forever home).

My employer is a big believer in giving back to the community and offers volunteer hours for employees to utilize. I reached out to that rescue about coming in to help clean once a month to use some of these volunteer hours. They welcomed me with open arms and were so appreciative of the help!

I continued to get more involved with this rescue. I became friends with so many great people through them – friendships built on the same mission! And these are some of the greatest people with the biggest hearts! Zach started volunteering with me too! We finally adopted Gabby and Tot through this rescue! Several friends of mine have also adopted through them. I’m officially their foster coordinator now too!

This rescue is Save the Kitties/Big Hearts 4 Little Paws. Their mission is meaningful to me. The people who are a part of this rescue are kind, funny, and creative. While it’s a small rescue, it has grown tremendously since I discovered them three years ago and it has totally changed my life!

Here’s to an amazing rescue with a strong mission and full of great people to help us Save the Kitties!
